Building on the success of their debut Hackathon in January 2015, ieDigital held its second Hackathon on 9th-10th July.
After a selection process, which saw more entrants than ever into the Hackathon, six teams were selected to advance into the final Hackathon. These teams were comprised of a wide cross section of Intelligent Environments’ staff, both technical and non-technical.
The final teams worked for upwards of 30 hours to bring their initial ideas to life; coding, developing and testing, to make a series of new innovations and competing to create the best concept.
This Hackathon comes one month after Intelligent Environments developed The Emoji Passcode, a secure innovative method of logging into a banking application using four Emojis as opposed to a traditional password, and continues the company’s long run of innovations.
Jerry Mulle, Director of Partnerships and Marketing at ieDigital said ‘This Hackathon has been our best yet. The ideas that have been generated by the teams involved have been among the most inventive and creative that we have seen to date,’

Mulle continues, ‘The Hackathon winner clearly demonstrated thinking outside the box and showed how a diverse range people from our team can create something special. Whilst there can only be one winner, some of the other ideas also made a very strong impact on the day and we would like to congratulate all of our teams.’
Following the success of the Hackathon and all the positive feedback it has generated, the company is looking to develop some of the ideas generated further as part of Intelligent Environments in-house innovation programme and will be added to Interact®, ieDigital established mobile and online financial services platform.
Intelligent Environments next Hackathon will be in January 2016.
